Welcome to Woodlands High School. I want to build on the tremendous progress we made last year. As the best high school in Westchester County, we do not intend to rest on our laurels. Our goal this year is to become the best public high school in New York State.

However there are extremely difficult challenges facing Woodlands High School.  The new APPR evaluation system for teachers and principals is contrary to much research and shows no correlation between it and student achievement.  Test scores will become paramount and the nurturing relationship between teacher and student will suffer.  The gross inequity in funding schools continues unabated.  It is therefore more important than ever that we make our voices heard in Albany.  Our path to greatness cannot overcome the misguided efforts of our policy makers without your help and support.

Sincerely,

Ronald O. Ross,

Principal

GREENBURGH CENTRAL 7 SEEKS COMMUNITY INPUT IN SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

The Greenburgh Central 7 Board of Education, as part of its outreach in the search for a new superintendent, will conduct an online survey and two community forums in January to help identify the characteristics we will be seeking in the next Schools Superintendent.

All stakeholders are invited to participate, including residents, parents, students and staff members alike. The on-line survey can be accessed by clicking here. Members of the community without Internet access may use a designated computer at each of the schools and the administration building. The survey will run from January 18 through January 31.

The forums are scheduled as follows:

Monday, January 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Woodlands High School Cafeteria, 475 W. Hartsdale Avenue, Hartsdale

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Theodore D. Young Community Center, 32 Manhattan Avenue, White Plains

Community members are encouraged to participate in this important process. The Board welcomes the input.
